We often think people notice us most in our darkest moments, but sometimes the loneliness exists even during laughter, success, or ordinary days.
“Can you hear me in the silence when I have no words to speak?”
Not every feeling arrives with perfect language. Sometimes silence says more than conversation ever could.
I invite you to read my poem and see what it brings up in you. Maybe all any of us really want is to know that our voice matters, even in the quiet.
CAN YOU HEAR ME?, by Kelly Saward
Can you hear me when I talk to you, can you hear me when I cry?
Can you hear me in the darkness when I can no longer try?
Do you hear me when I’m happy, do you hear me when I’m kind?
When you stop and think of me, what feelings come to mind?
Do you hear me in the laughter when there’s smiles all around?
When things are going smoothly what’s heard within the sounds?
Can you hear me in the silence when I have no words to speak?
Can you hold me, simply hold me, especially when it’s bleak?
Can you hear me through it all, the darkness and the light,
the joy and the pains, the wins and the fight?
Can you hear me?
That voice inside you – what does it want to say, truly? If nobody else was around, if it was the ‘perfect time’, what would you say?
My new book is available to pre-order now, a collection of poetry and reflections exploring emotion, healing, vulnerability, and finding your voice.
CAN YOU HEAR ME? An emotional dictionary: where feelings find their voice.
Find the words for what you feel, so you can finally hear yourself.
