I have experienced anxiety throughout my adult life. I know it can be a scary place to be.
It can be difficult to prioritise self-care, especially when others' needs always seem to come first. As a result, we often run out of time. The truth is, the time is always there, but I struggled with guilt when it came to taking it for myself.
When anxiety became an issue for my youngest daughter, I knew I needed to find tools to help both of us manage it and create a safe space where anxiety wouldn't control our lives. We started practicing breathing techniques, including the 4-7-8 method, which we both enjoy. This technique involves inhaling for 4 seconds, holding for 7 seconds, and exhaling for 8 seconds. I chose this as the name of my practice because it grounded me during my journey and continues to benefit my family.
Becoming a qualified Mindfulness and Meditation Facilitator has been inspiring. It allows me to help others practice mindfulness and transform their lives, just as it has transformed mine. I now am able to guide people through meditation and understand that a clear mind isn’t necessarily where we arrive but that we do arrive and that’s the key.
Thanks to mindfulness, I am more relaxed, better equipped to support myself and my family, and able to be aware and manage anxiety and panic rather than being lost within these feelings. I now have the time to appreciate the present and fully enjoy moments, learning more as I go and incorporating this into the work I facilitate.
Over time, my practice has continued to evolve, as all things do. I now incorporate sound, energy healing, colour and much more. Working one to one looks different to us all and I am sensitive to this. Exploring compassionate inquiry, deep rest, and counselling techniques into the work in the best way to suit each individual.
As a mentor, facilitator, and speaker, I bring together these different elements in a unique way each time, always returning to the core principles of awareness and connection. This allows us to move forward with ease and intentionality.
I have created my own workshops which I deliver in both individual and company setting really drawing on communication, connection and creativity. There are many ways to arrive at where we’d like to be and the best place to start is where we are.
